We deserve spaces where we can speak freely.

Being online doesn't always mean feeling comfortable enough to be yourself.

Sometimes you want to talk about a difficult experience with a client, something happening at work, a business decision you're struggling with or simply something going on in your life.

But putting it on a public platform means opening it up to everyone — including people who might misunderstand, judge or use your vulnerability against you.

Sometimes you don't want to turn a personal experience into a public conversation. You just want to talk to women who understand where you're coming from.

The Black Village is being built to offer that kind of space: a private community where Black women can connect, talk openly, exchange experiences and support one another.

And it isn't only about the difficult moments. It's also about friendships, laughter, learning, opportunities and having women to share the good moments with.

More than a group chat. A community to be part of.

Membership is designed around real opportunities to connect, learn, share and build relationships with other Black women.

Why I decided to build my own village.

I've spent a lot of time online, but I haven't always found the kind of community I was looking for.

As a Black woman living in a place where I don't have an established community of Black women around me, I've sometimes found myself looking online for the connection and support I couldn't easily find offline.

I could follow Black women online, comment on their posts or exchange a few messages, but that didn't mean I had a group of women I could turn to, talk openly with or build lasting friendships with.

There are things you want to talk about that you don't necessarily want to share with the entire internet. Experiences at work, difficult client situations, business struggles, personal questions or moments when you simply need another woman's perspective.

Sometimes you want to be able to speak without worrying about how a public post might affect your reputation or how strangers might respond.

I wanted a place where Black women could get to know one another beyond social media — where we could talk about business and careers, but also friendships, everyday life, interests and everything in between.

A place to share what we're going through, celebrate what we're achieving and learn from one another.

I couldn't find the kind of community I wanted to be part of.

So I decided to start building it.
